The Isotopes 2017 release Play Surf Music presented in digital clarity on Compact Disc!

Jeff Spevak of the Democrat and Chronicle says:
The Isotopes do a fine job of shifting the dynamics from song to song, and within the songs themselves. Horns really brighten up the room. “Swing Theory” is kind of a surfing swing-dance piece. “Bag Pipeline” is a Celtic-spaghetti western gallop. And there’s the relaxed island of “Risky Biscuit,” with a clatter of castanets. “Mirth Control” fools around with some Hendrix explorations. You wouldn’t suspect it from the titles, but “(Grappling With the) Pickle Matrix” and “Thermophile” are very lovely tunes.

Frank De Blase of Rochester City Newspaper says:
"The Isotopes Play Surf Music" isn't just another Isotopes record. Well, it is ... it just seems this Rochester surf band has finally hit its stride with all 16 tracks showing up with something catchy and truly Isotope-y. It would seem The Isotopes have developed a signature sound at last.

The addition of horns delivers a nice punch to tunes like "Sexpionage." And since there aren't words, the titles give hints and context throughout. After you've read the titles — like "Jolly Rancheros," "Nocturnal Transmission," and "Pearl Harbor Necklace" — you'll know what to think about as you shake a tail feather.
